Am I the only one who thinks it would be a really dumb move for Mercedes to let Russell walk in order to bring in Max? Who knows if Max is going to drive as well with a completely different car? I mean the Red Bull is so geared toward Max’s driving style that anyone else who tries to drive it struggles extremely hard. they actually think Max is going to be able to drive better than Russell? I find that a bit hard to believe. And here they have Russell and he is a very good driver. A known quantity that is actually getting better, and they want to drop him for a guy who currently drives by all evidence a very very different kind of car. Seems dumb.
It’s two moves in one though isn’t it? Get what most agree to be an elite driver in your team, and make it so that there is NO ONE can score points in red bull
I agree I can’t see Verstappen and Russell on the same team, and that it seems rough but that’s the game. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see George do a season in the 2021 car so we’d have a clear reference for his skills. We think he’s quite good and being held back by an underperforming car, but is he? No way to tell unfortunately.
