He’s not on a lead, but he’s old, deaf, and blind, so he couldn’t catch an animal if it was right in front of him.
We go for a walk with the kids and dog, and he follows. Cats do what they want.
They make this noise and another raspy noise, a bit like a cat hissing, when I walk past a tree behind home with my cat. They don’t seem happy about the cat being there, despite him being 21, half blind and deaf, and not even noticing them. They’ve even thrown acorns at us.
It’s an absolute gem. My favourite comedy movie and also very warm-hearted. It’s an Aussie institution.
I’d also highly recommend a British TV movie from the 70s called Nuts in May about a middle-class couple going camping. It’s also light-hearted and hilarious, and very English, much as The Castle is very Australian.
Australian movie, The Castle.
I don’t know what to tell you. Myself and lots of people I know thought he was blind. I don’t know the whole world, but the source and other places tell you that some people thought he was blind. You can find mentions of it and other people people asking the question on Reddit, quora etc. It was more than the people I know who listed these things.

I always thought that.
Yes, there have been plenty of things across the years. I’m not linking Reddit, but a quick search online will show that it’s a pretty common misconception.
It’s in his wiki bio under public image:
The sunglasses led some people to assume he was blind.[93]
A simple Google search will tell you that it’s a common misconception.
Yep, plenty of folks believed he was blind.
aka Urchins.
‘two men who tasted it’… From the wiki article. What the actual fuck. ‘Let’s try the random sky meat’.
