I keep a Windows 2000 machine with Office 97 for distraction-free writing, but I might try this. WordPerfect for DOS was always a pretty relaxing way to write.

How many people have these issues with audio and networking? I currently have 8 Linux computers and none of this has been necessary on any of them. It surprises me how many people claim to have endless difficult experiences. Many distros make it all very easy these days.
And editing a config file is hardly a “brick wall”.
Use the free Rider for home and ask any new employer for a commercial license. It’s a pretty mainstream piece of software. There’s really no reason an employer should force you to use Visual Studio.
For those times I need Microsoft tools, I keep a Windows VM handy on my Linux PC. I feel much better keeping Windows contained and mostly turned off.
VS Codium to the rescue.
It’s the only way to be sure Microsoft won’t sneakily turn it back on.
The only catch? You’ll need an interposer to set up an Ai Pin for use with OpenPin. You can either buy one or make your own.
Even more junk for landfill, to salvage a device that is inherently quite useless. It’s good to keep the original hardware running but it’s a shame this requires more hardware.
He does look like an ass pig.
Yes, the response to a child predator who says “But I’m trans!” should be “So what?” It’s irrelevant to the matter of trans rights, as you say.
While men mostly don’t mind if a woman runs in man toilet, women can be really angry at men running into theirs.
If that were the rationale, it would make no sense to rule that trans women must use the men’s toilet and trans men must use the women’s. That’s a recipe for exactly the discomfort you describe.
A little bit of investment to make society more humane. Seems worth it.
Can anyone cite a single instance of it being problematic when a trans woman used the women’s toilet or a trans man used the men’s? Has this ever actually caused trouble? Because it seems the UK Government is bending over backwards to appease bigots over entirely imaginary, and probably not even genuine, fears.
And can these politicians not see how it will be problematic for very feminine trans women to be using men’s toilets and very masculine trans men to be using the women’s? Will anyone feel more comfortable that way?
Even if the drive prices are not raised to unreasonable levels, if ever Synology decides to stop selling these drives the NAS you have purchased will become useless. Think I’ll pass.
Liz Truss met with the Queen and the Queen died; JD Vance met with the Pope and the Pope died. Clearly, meeting with far-right lunatics is bad for the health.
Never depend on anything Google.
They could have replaced the Google Assistant with their new Gemini thing on these waches (since I think they basically just relay voice to and from the phone). But, being Google, they prefer just to remove features people already paid for.
Sad to see the UK heading backwards like this.
Unfortunately the EU is in the process of abandoning GDPR, despite it being the best thing they ever did for the internet.

I’m rooting for France. You’ll never stand up to the USA if you don’t stand up to its corporations.
The only thing that really attracts me about these glasses is that you could hold your head up instead of looking down all the time at a laptop or a portable monitor. But most of the time I need more than one display, while the glasses only offer a single, expensive, fairly low resolution screen. I also wonder what it does to your eyes to use this for long periods of time.
They’re all doing it. Most tech these days just isn’t exciting enough to attract attention without them hyping it.
Yep, for some of us Clippy never went anywhere.
