This is the heart of the love affair between fascism and capitalism. Most capitalists actually end up being horrifically shocked by the consequences of consumating that love with fascism but by then of course it is by design too late.
A fascist overthrow of a democratic society than by definition must be a process of keeping capitalists and the average “non-political” people in society from realizing at the same time that a fascist overthrow is actually happening and the consequences are immediately brutal. Fascists seek to slow down time in some places, speed it up in others, to desynchronize this realization so that it becomes a perfectly individualized one, a series of repeating last seconds of the authoritarian state crushing someone after they had been cornered and isolated.
This also explains why Fascism is inherently unstable, it is not actually a form of governance so much as a form of cancer that preys upon governments and organizations, it exists to grow and no other reason. There is no homeostasis with Fascism, only growth and terror. 155mm howitizers are not a new technology, but the west seems to have magically remembered all of a sudden how important they are… after Ukraine already figured out how to produce it themselves with a minimal amount of help from a country or two like Denmark (thank goodness they did!).
Hold the people that enabled this accountable, it is vitally important to the security of your homes and to an internationally shared desire (clearly not by the leaders in power, but decisively by the obvious expressed desire of normal people all over the planet) for peace rather than war.

Which is exactly the intended conditions ventcure capital investment in WhatsApp was intended to do, now they can just keep cashing in over and over again banking on pure inertia from people already knowing how to use WhatsApp badly to do something they could do far better with another tool.
What that says to me is you are trying to bullshit using a basic tool when you actually need to do the work of onboarding people onto some kind of platform where you can actually coordinate complex things or have conversations between huge groups of people that are still salient to individuals.
Nobody really needed this feature, this is the actual reason it is being implemented… obviously.

A good example is ADHD. I have severe ADHD so I take meds to manage it. If I am driving an automatic car on cruise control I find it very difficult to maintain long term high intensity concentration. The solution for me is to drive a manual. The constant involvement of maintaining speed, revs, gear ratio, and so on mean I can pay attention much easier. Add to that thinking about hypermiling and defensive driving and I have become a very safe driver, putting about 25-30 thousand kms on my car each year for over a decade without so much as a fender bender. In an automatic I was always tense, forcing focus on the road, and honestly it hurt my neck and shoulders because of the tension. In my zippy little manual I have no trouble driving at all.
Are you me? I love weaving through traffic as fast as I can… in a video game (like Motor Town behind the wheel). In real life I drive very safe and it is boring af for my ADHD so I do things like try to hit the apex of turns just perfect as if I was driving at the limit but I am in reality driving at a normal speed.
Part of living with severe ADHD is you don’t get breaks from having to play these games to survive everyday life, as you say it is a stressful reality in part because of this. You brought up a great point too that both of us know, when our focus is on something and activated we can perform at a high level, but accidents don’t wait for our focus, they just happen, and this is why we are always beating ourselves up.
We can look at self driving car tech and intuit a lot about the current follies of it because we know what focus is better than anyone else, especially successful tech company execs.
