I couldn’t bear to make e-waste, so I repaired two c.~2012 era chromebooks earlier this year. The end result was equal parts rewarding experience and a complete was of my time xD. Those sandy bridge cpus are sloooow
don’t forget to bring a towel!

Reason # 3,487 to get off/stop paying attention to X, the ‘everything app’.
www.lemm.ee has been the only place I’ve enjoyed using lemmy
When’s the last time you tried? I had a hell of a time dual booting in ~2016, but as of the last five years or so I’ve set up half a dozen dual boots without issue, and Windows (LTSC) hasn’t messed up any of the partitions.
What is this disclaimer warning about? I have used LTSC exclusively as a desktop OS since 2019 and everything works. I have not had an instance of something not working that would have otherwise worked on Enterprise or Home, etc. I game in 4k, edit videos, run a jellyfin server, mine monero. I’m confused about what you mean
I’m rocking a kei truck for landscaping and home reno projects, and it still uses more gas than I’m happy with. I’d love for someone to make an electric truck that isn’t a massive behemoth intended to prove something about my masculinity. Just give me a clean energy box bed to haul my lumber and dirt.

I use all of those Microsoft products at a sensitive department of the Federal government of Canada, and they are NOT ready to transition away.
(btw VSCodium is an open source VSCode without the telemetry)
Hey can someone put in a good word for Canada on a Canadian’s behalf? Cheers
I moved into a tiny home and got one for measuring the current draw of my kitchen appliances and keeping track of the cost of my electric space heater ($40/month so far, yeesh)
Sex with a hella sexy robot? Nice.
Using a hella sexy robot to fill the emptiness of no intimacy or authentic mutual connection? Not nice.
For some reason sex with a robot doesn’t feel gross to me — until they start using it to fill a hole (hehe)
Sorry, I misread. What is bad about the UX exactly? You don’t need to customize anything if you don’t want to; “it just works”. And I dont follow you on how having the option to customize things makes it a bad user experience. You’re assuming the native UI is bad for some reason.
I’ve used Plex a lot too back in the day but there’s nothing it provides that Jellyfin doesn’t do out of the box + self-hosted + for free.
You can change the UI design to whatever you want with a custom CSS. Can make your own or there’s a plethora of themes on GitHub. I remember trying one that replicated the Netflix app, and don’t hold me to it but I think I saw a Plex one as well.
Also, regarding the metadata, there are options that auto populate it for you. Idk how it does it, but my haphazard library of torrents all had accurate metadata AND it downloaded the subtitle files as well.
I have a novice coding question using the mouse tracking as an example: Is it possible to intercept and replace mouse tracking data with generic inputs? For example, could you implement an overlay that blocks mouse interactions, and instead of physically clicking on elements, send a direct packet to the application to simulate selecting those elements?
Jokes aside, keep in mind that the idea of fingerprinting is that your computer’s configuration is as unique as a fingerprint (e.g., your monitor is x resolution, you are on this operating system, you are using these following extensions in this browser, you have these fonts on your system).
Setting your user agent to something super unique is basically shining a spotlight on yourself.
It may be a bold of me to say, but I hold the controversial opinion that I don’t really give a shit which computer OS you use. If you can use a mouse and keyboard to navigate a desktop environment then 🤙 you are ahead of the curve at this point.
