All patents are stupid. Seriously, I’ve written one, although of course only the boss gets credit for the property. It’s a disgusting process where you try to destroy any chance of innovation in the name of money.

Well, Signal can do it. That’s where the argument ends. If Signal can do it, XMPP should too. But it doesn’t.
That’s a terrible UX. If you have a protocol independent from clients, at least the chat database backup should be standardized. It’s not.
That means you’ll forever get stuck to one client. This is absolutely terrible for any organization.
You don’t even need another device. You might just want to try another client app. You’d be screwed. That’s very, very sad.
Because SMS costs money everywhere else and the world is not the US.
XMPP does have something that breaks my heart: it bounds encryption to a very specific client. So forget about migrating to something else and keeping your history somehow. Which is very sad for supposedly interoperable protocol.
Wake me up when it releases on F-Droid
There was a similar post about Android 16 releasing “”““today””“” a week ago and nothing happened
Yeah, I mean, if I was Unihertz, I’d give all my drivers’ code to LineageOS and sales would skyrocket. I don’t know why they don’t do this.
Unihertz never updates their phones. It’s amazing, fairly repairable hardware, but software support is terrible.
It’s sad. They could let the community handle it, but they won’t.
Is it worth a try or is it just a rebrand for now?
Let me stop you right there: the chances of Jellyfin going rogue are much smaller. It’s libre software. It’s GPL. It’s copyleft. We are pretty much safe.
As a Unihertz owner: stay sway from any of their products. Software support is non-existent. If you are lucky, you may get 1 update 1 month after release.
They are a niche brand, so custom ROMs simply don’t properly work.
What I’ll never understand is why they don’t release their code and let the community make Unihertz the best brand ever, because hardware quality is incredible. But this hardware is useless with terrible software.
RISC-V will also come to you, don’t worry.
I use Android because I want to install the apps that I fucking want. The launcher is the place where I spend very little time. Stock Android launcher is generally fine for me.
What about finally doing something with RCS?? It’s been stagnant for YEARS, no audio speed-up, no pinned messages, not possible to separate contacts to useless 2FA SMSs… What about the promised mini-apps? What about opening the API??
What about doing ANY ACTUAL WORK?
So the strategy is that. Just rotate designs and features. Take them off and put them back so people get excited again for something of the past.
Fucking Google. You ad bastards.
Has Quick Share worked for you ever?
Every single time I tried it, it never worked. Neither phone could find the other.
I come back and try to use it every year, realise it doesn’t work and go back to LocalSend or whatever.

Gmail is the first app that anyone should uninstall with
Universal Android Debloater Next Generation
and then one should install Thunderbird and live happy.
