Last week, the European Union officially added the non-native American mink to its list of Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern. This means that keeping and breeding American mink is banned from July 2027.
So long as the mink aren’t released into the wild when the ban comes into effect, in which case it would decidedly not be a win for native water voles.
